2017, Acrylic on canvas, 250x300mm.
Welcome to 2017, I think this is one of my first paintings this year, it’s actually one in a set of three I did at the same time (I’m getting in a habit if doing of that).
Having done a summer rain commission recently I was still in the mood to do something colourful so I pondered a few ideas and went with something familiar from my childhood and the world of cinema. You might recognise the silhouetted figure from a singing and dancing Disney classic film.I love Mary Poppins, I’m not embarrassed to say that, and the silhouette of Mary decending from the heavens by her umbrella seemed a strong image to use. I wasn’t sure how she’d look with a rain of colours in the background but I was delighted with the appearance that came from it. Take from this painting what you will, I do this for a bit of fun, and I think the colours in this bring it.
As I’ve mentioned, this is one of three paintings, check back for the other two paintings very soon. They are finished as well but I’ve been a little slow blogging, hopefully they’ll be online by the end of the weekend.
If you are interested in purchasing this and other paintings search for Jayelle Butterfly Crafts on Facebook or pop down to the shop at Dagfields Arts & Crafts in Nantwich, CW5 7LG.
Thanks for letting me be a distraction to your day, see you soon, bring a friend. Bye.
