2017, Acrylic on canvas, 250x300mm.
Hello and welcome back. This distraction is the third in a series of three paintings which features my summer rain theme with a silhouetted scene. I say it’s a series but the reality is its a 3 pack of canvases which I painted at the same time with similar appearances. The other two paintings show scenes from cinema, Mary Poppins and Singing in the Rain. While this painting isn’t particularly from a scene from one film, instead it could be a scene from many. It’s two shoguns having a sword fight in the rain. Despite the use of colour this painting feels more serene and quiet, a massive leap away from the intensity of an actual sword fight. Like my other recent summer rain style paintings I like this, it’s visually striking and invokes a sense of feeling despite it being just runny paint and a silhouette. It’s amazing what you can do with a few pigments of liquid and a blank surface.
I won’t harp on about the painting anymore, but do feel free to comment or rate this post, or why not press the share buttons below and let a friend see this too.
Thanks for stopping by and being distracted. See you soon.
